In the serene and charming neighborhood of West Village in New York, fashion entrepreneur and founder of Reformation, Yael Aflalo, has built a row house for her family that combines a relaxed atmosphere with sculptural aesthetics. This six-story residence, which was originally constructed in the 19th century, has been transformed by the Paris-based design firm Festen into a contemporary dwelling of Bohemian Modernism, being both restrained and full of individuality.

Aflalo 与 Festen 的缘分，始于法国蔚蓝海岸的 Les Roches Rouges 酒店。那种不刻意却极具辨识度的空间气质，让她一眼笃定：这正是自己想要的家。当她与丈夫、瑞典创意总监 Ludvig Frössén 买下这栋西村联排别墅后，毫不犹豫地选择了 Festen，这也是事务所在美国的首个重要住宅项目。

Aflalos connection with Festen began at Les Roches Rouges hotel on the French Côte dAzur. The unforced yet highly distinctive atmosphere of the space made her immediately realize that this was exactly the kind of home she wanted. After she and her husband, the Swedish creative director Ludvig Frössén, purchased this duplex villa in the West Village, they made the decision without hesitation to choose Festen. This was also the firms first significant residential project in the United States.

房子经过 Steven Harris Architects 的结构改造，后院罕见地增设了一座城市泳池，柔和的弧形墙体贯穿多个空间，定制橡木地板与花瓣状铁艺楼梯扶手让整个空间既温暖又有设计感。室内家具和装饰来自世界各地，从京都手工漆艺床头板，到法国锤制青铜茶几，每件作品都体现了匠心。

The house underwent structural renovation by Steven Harris Architects. A rare urban swimming pool was added to the backyard. Soft curved walls run through multiple spaces. Custom oak flooring and petal-shaped iron staircase handrails give the entire space a warm and stylish feel. The interior furniture and decorations come from all over the world, from the hand-painted bed headboard from Kyoto to the French hammered bronze coffee table. Each piece reflects meticulous craftsmanship.

In the public spaces, the whitewashed lime walls serve as a serene backdrop for art. Tal Rs metal sculptures, Martha Jungwirths abstract paintings, along with the deep burgundy velvet sofas and Swedish antique chairs, together create a richly layered yet unobtrusive scene. The approximately 8,000-square-foot residence uses durable materials such as limestone, oak, and brass, deliberately avoiding trends, allowing the space to naturally settle over time.
