The ground floor unit in this four-story apartment building in West Hampstead has little connection to the external space at the rear, and receives very little natural light inside. The exterior facade of the rear garden is plain and unremarkable, in stark contrast to the prominent large windows along the street.

The design teams proposal extends the living space to the backyard and introduces some proportional details from the front facade. The extended roof is set with an angled skylight opening to allow better light to reach the living space. Below, the column made of stone contrasts with the texture of the paint on the roof.
