Castley McCrimmon Architects has meticulously transformed a forgotten Victorian era residence in Ascot Valley, Melbourne. The heritage details have been restored, while the modern expansion filled with light brings a fresh sense of life and purpose.

干净的线条和纹理饰面定义了这个空间，在这个空间里，光和阴影在一天中相互作用，穿过被推倒的渲染墙。

The clean lines and textured finishes define this space, where light and shadow interact throughout the day, passing through the toppled rendering walls.

设计恢复房屋的传统魅力，创造一个开放式生活的三居室布局，在拥抱光线的同时确保隐私。卡斯利的设计巧妙地引入了高大的围栏、内部庭院和宽敞的天窗，以最大限度地提高隐私和自然光。修复后的前室重新引入了时代细节，包括华丽的飞檐、壁炉和高踢脚板，营造出温暖而富有个性的空间。

Design to restore the traditional charm of the house and create an open living three bedroom layout that embraces light while ensuring privacy. Casleys design cleverly incorporates tall fences, internal courtyards, and spacious skylights to maximize privacy and natural light. The restored front room reintroduces contemporary details, including gorgeous eaves, fireplace, and high kickboards, creating a warm and personalized space.

从传统到现代的过渡以走廊上的定制钢罩为标志，为向现代后部延伸的转变提供了框架。干净的线条和纹理饰面定义了这个空间，在这个空间里，光和阴影在一天中相互作用，穿过被推倒的渲染墙。烟熏灰色的地板——Storey Made by Peppercorn——无缝贯穿整个住宅，将新旧结合在一起。

The transition from tradition to modernity is marked by customized steel covers on the corridors, providing a framework for the transition towards the modern rear. The clean lines and textured finishes define this space, where light and shadow interact throughout the day, passing through the toppled rendering walls. Smoked grey flooring - Storey Made by Peppercorn - seamlessly runs through the entire residence, blending old and new together.

设计的核心是对厨房的大胆重新构想。与传统的岛式布局不同，这个5.2米长的石砌岛贯穿整个房间，既是厨房的工作区，也是餐桌。这种深思熟虑的设计创造了一种流动感，并与相邻的庭院融为一体，而上方的天窗则让该地区充满了自然光。定制的木材细木工制品确保了人们对岛上雕塑的关注。

The core of the design is a bold reimagining of the kitchen. Unlike traditional island layouts, this 5.2-meter-long stone island runs through the entire room, serving as both the kitchen workspace and dining table. This thoughtful design creates a sense of fluidity and blends seamlessly with the adjacent courtyard, while the skylight above fills the area with natural light. The customized wood and fine woodworking products ensure peoples attention to the sculptures on the island.

浴室与家里的柔和色调形成了俏皮的对比，陶土瓷砖和定制的瓷砖浴缸增添了活力。

The bathroom creates a playful contrast with the soft tones of the home, while the ceramic tiles and customized tile bathtub add vitality.

宽敞的天窗庆祝光线和物质性，将中央空间变成日常的亮点。同时，后客厅可以轻松地通往花园，全嵌入式滑动门模糊了内外之间的界限。

The spacious sunroof celebrates light and materiality, turning the central space into a daily highlight. At the same time, the back living room can easily lead to the garden, and the fully embedded sliding door blurs the boundary between the inside and outside.

For Casley, the success of this project lies in its atmosphere. He shared, Its very quiet and peaceful here - you really feel like youre in your own sanctuary.. Guests often stop at the rear extension, attracted by the textured walls and how light passes through them, injecting unique energy into the space.
