In the renovation of a Victorian house in Melbourne, YSG team has demonstrated how tradition and modernity, simplicity and decoration, architecture and emotion can be combined with its keen design approach and creative cultural integration.

这个项目的业主是一对拥有截然不同审美偏好的夫妻：埃及裔澳大利亚人与丹麦人。他们的喜好反映了中东设计的热情与复杂，以及北欧风格的极简与克制。然而，他们共同的色盲特质增加了设计挑战：需要通过大胆的色彩与纹理弥补对中性色调的感知缺失。YSG团队承担了这项设计改造任务。

The owners of the project are a couple with very different aesthetic preferences: Egyptian-Australian and Danish. Their preferences reflect the passion and sophistication of Middle Eastern design and the minimalism and restraint of Nordic style. However, their common color blindness added to the design challenge: the need to compensate for the lack of perception of neutral tones through bold colors and textures. The YSG team undertook this design transformation.

设计的核心灵感源于瓷砖这一材料。YSG在项目中将瓷砖视为设计语言的重要组成部分，通过其纹理、图案和色调构建空间叙事。例如，开放式地板的马赛克图案受波斯地毯启发，呈现像素化的抽象效果，既保留了维多利亚时代的装饰传统，又带来了现代感。在浴室中，土耳其浴室风格的浅蓝色马赛克瓷砖、铁锈色地板与装饰性的几何瓷砖边框共同营造了复古而舒适的氛围。

The core inspiration of the design is ceramic tile. YSG sees tiles as an important part of the design language in the project, building a spatial narrative through their textures, patterns and tones. For example, the Mosaic pattern of the open floor is inspired by Persian carpets and presents a pixelated abstract effect, which preserves the decorative tradition of the Victorian era while bringing a modern feel. In the bathroom, Turkish bath style light blue Mosaic tiles, rust-colored floors and decorative geometric tile borders combine to create a retro and cozy atmosphere.

The Victorian exterior, wood molding and decorative ceiling of the original home were carefully preserved and blended perfectly with the cream painted gingerbread facade. The open structure of the extension adopts a more modern design language, and the transition areas are cleverly connected by stained glass and skylights, making the whole space feel warm and transparent.

In the use of colour and materials, the extension boldly blends terracotta, ginger and garnet tones, harmoniously contrasting with the turquoise granite in the kitchen and the Rosso Verona and Verde Riviera marbles in the bathroom. Nordic style furniture in the interior, such as the Fritz Hansen table, the chair of Saarinen Womb and the Louis Poulsen chandelier, instill an air of simplicity and elegance into the space, while inspiration from Egyptian architect Hassan Fathys mud-brick architecture is reflected in the curved walls of the dining room and courtyard.

YSG Studios keen sense of cultural fusion has succeeded in harmoniously blending Egyptian and Nordic styles to create Spaces that are both richly decorated and beautifully minimalist. At the same time, the custom carpets, furniture and lamps add a sculptural and artistic quality to the design, making the house both historic and contemporary. With delicate and profound design language, it creates a ventilated and open, warm and attractive multi-cultural symbiosis aesthetic home for customers.
