Ace Hotel was founded in Seattle in 1999 by Alex Calderwood, Wade Weigel and Doug Herrick. Each of the brands hotels aims to reinvent the challenging original sites and make their style and interiors reflect the culture and identity of the location.

Studio Cigue dismantled the incongruous parts of the original building and returned to pure geometry, using strong lines and cube balconies to give the white exterior of the hotel rhythm, The cantileved balcony is adjacent to a large blue mural - a four-story mural by artist Claire Manent inspired by David Hockneys By the Pool series - which not only brings the facade to life, but also combines the buildings modernist roots with a playful coastal touch.

In contrast, the intimate lobby bar becomes a unique retreat in the bright hotel, with warm wood paneling, sparkling copper bar, contemporary leather stools and vinque-inspired lamps to create a subdued atmosphere.

Custom-designed by Panos Profitis, the cast aluminum sconces feature the shape of the Harpions - mythological figures in Greco-Roman legend that are part bird, part woman - echoing the seabird motif on the artists pool mural.

They are integrated with other signature elements of the Ace Hotel, such as acoustic guitars and record players, which integrate local roots into the hotels creative Spaces.

Studio Cigue injects a calming tone to the hotels swimming club, where soft olive green sun loungers and sun-drenched yellow umbrellas combine to create a relaxed atmosphere, while Eero Aarnios rattan mushroom stool adds a playful touch of design. However, the real highlight of the pool bar is Greek artist Theo Michaels Mosaic installation using a unique mixture of paper and resin.
