Home is the aggregation of memories. It is re-portrayed through modern craftsmanship and warms the body and mind with blazing fire. Upon the moment of entry, one is reunited with the past after a long absence.
 
自小居住的住宅重新翻修，想要永久留存的，是难以言喻的怀旧氛围。全室桧木香，开启了记忆盒子。量身订制的梯，以温暖的炉火，成双的典雅家具配置，延续过往待客规格，将大宅的雍容大度，以现代风格重新诠释。充满儿时回忆的和室，以崭新姿态重现，骨董金莳绘的日式柜，仿佛将往日珍藏在内。廊道尽头，以现代风格装裱的水墨画，取代传统挂轴;拾阶而上，则是家人独享的私领域。家，是生活记忆的总和，透过气味、材质、色彩唤起回忆，同时开启崭新生活模式。
 
This is a renovation project of the home that the owner grew up in. The most valuable element to be preserved is the indescribable nostalgic atmosphere. The aroma of cypress wood give access to the chest of memories. Customized stairway, cozy fireplace, and paired, elegant arrangement of furniture come together to extend the past grandeur, then redefine it with the style of modern aesthetics. The Japanese-style room, also known as the washitsu, that is filled with childhood memories has been given a modern make-over. Antique Japanese cabinet decorated with Japanese Maki-e technique stands still as if it holds the deepest memories of the past. At the end of the corridor, an ink painting framed in a contemporary design replaces the traditional scroll. along the stairway one can find the family’s private quarters on top. Home is the sum of everyday memories. Memories of the past can be recalled through aroma, texture, and color to embark on a new lifestyle.

01| Gracefully Symmetrical
Paired placement of furniture forms a graceful setting. The beauty of symmetry brews steadily in the open area and transforms into an exceptional attitude towards life.
 
开阔的公共区，是宾客往来频繁的场域。如镜像般对称的家具配置，酝酿成双的空间气魄，彰显典雅的人文气息。楼梯下方横向延伸的壁炉，以熊熊的火光，温暖了整个大厅，大宅的气度，自此展开。
The spacious common area is where guests and host would linger most frequently. Symmetrical and paired arrangement of the furniture creates an elegant and graceful atmosphere. The stove towards the bottom of the stairway warms up the entire living room and sparks the grandeur of the mansion.

02| A Feast for the Mind
A warm family dinner is the ultimate platform for emotional exchange.
The harmony of the East joins the simplicity of the West to welcome guests. Simple, home-cooked family meals surpasses any cuisine that money can buy.
 
因应家宴需求的餐厨规划，兼具中式厨房油烟不外溢的实用，结合西式大理石中岛的开放格局与备餐机能，充分满足亲友欢聚及宴请宾客的需求。中式圆桌与灯饰、圆融弧线现代皮制餐椅呼应;格栅式大理石柜区隔餐、厨区，同时延续和风语汇，让空间调性一致。陶艺大师徐永旭的作品，成为餐厅主墙画龙点睛装饰，为家增添艺术气息。
To accommodate the usual dining preference of the family, the kitchen and dining area offer the functionality of a Chinese kitchen and the open preparation area of Western homes, so that guests can mingle in either area. The Chinese circular dining table resonates with the lighting and the oval, leather dining chairs. A marble shelf separates the kitchen area from the dining room while still in harmony with the overall Japanese theme. The artistic work of pottery master Hsu Yunghsu adds the final touch to the dining room wall.

02| Warm Hospitality
A cup of warm tea warms the heart of guests from afar. Soft light welcomes chatter and gatherings that foster friendship.
 
在怀旧的和室旁，是接待宾客的茶堂。暖阳从百叶窗洒落，带来一室温馨。延续和室格栅，带入中式家具，沉稳的圈椅、方凳，结合厚实的木制长桌，讲究的茶席在此展开。山形大理石墙，仿佛空间画作，与窗外远山绿意相映，凝聚视觉焦点。在这方天地品茗，话题天南地北，宾主尽欢。
Next to the washitsu is the tea room to welcome guests. Warm, cozy sunlight shines through the blinds. The dividers of the washitsu extends to the tearoom that is characterized by Chinese-style furniture, including sturdy chairs, stools, and a thick rectangular wooden table where one can savor the finest tea. The pattern on the marble wall resembles a painting of a mountain that calls out to the distant scenery outside the window. Hosts and guests alike can enjoy mingling over the welcoming tea.

01| The Fragrance of Memories
Fragrance is the key that opens the doorway to memories. Faint cypress fragrance that fills the air reveals the long-archived memories. Preserved in the same location but with a much different mindset are the shared memories across generations.
 
飘散着淡淡桧木香的和室，是保留时代记忆的存在。将老旧的和室，以现代手法重现，厚实的桧木柱依旧，和金莳绘日式柜相伴，让岁月痕迹更添历史光泽。一室馨香，开启另一世代的生活开端，让时光停驻，化为永恒。
As the fragrance of cypress tree faintly fill the air, the Japanese-style room is where the past memories are kept. An old washitsu, also known as tatami room, has been given a modern make-over. Cypress pillars stand alongside antique Japanese cabinet decorated with Maki-e, which is a Japanese lacquer decoration technique on the surface using gold or silver metal powder, like adding a glossy luster to history. Fragrance opens the doorway across generations, where time stops, and memories become eternal.

05| Connecting Spatial Elegance
The stairway that connects the upper and lower floors emanates the fragrance of cypress. Wooden patterns can be seen on the surface of each step of the stairway as the noises below diminishes with each step upwards into quietness, where the nostalgic atmosphere extends infinitely.
 
串联接待宾客的楼层及私领域住居的楼梯，以桧木踏阶的香气，作为动线引导，温暖的气息与圆润细腻的桧木扶手触感，结合铁件、玻璃、大理石等现代素材，让现代语汇与怀旧气氛融合为一。在室内移动就能感受视觉、嗅觉、触觉、听觉及内心感触的微妙五感体验。
The stairway that connects the lower floor for guests and upper floor emanates a faint cypress fragrance that leads to the private quarters above. The cozy fragrance and the smooth wooden handle of the stairway railing match with metal veneer, glass, and marble and other modern elements to integrate contemporary vocabulary into the nostalgic atmosphere. Experience design and craftmanship to the finest detail unlike any other with the five senses of sight, smell, touch, sound, and mind.

06| A Harbor of Tranquility
Home is the safe harbor for the mind to settle from the turmoil and chaos outside. It is a shelter where the family can enjoy time quietly and peacefully together.
 
将宾客共享的场域与家人独享的空间分开，私领域的静谧，从全室桧木材质，及格栅语汇的廊道区隔展开。温润的木质，营造家的温暖气氛，也让设计风格延续。精致小巧的家具、如涟漪散放的地毯图腾，在方、圆造型间取得平衡，有别于公共区的大器，典雅依旧，温馨倍增。
The public area for the guests and the private quarters of the family has been separated to harbor tranquility. The divider made from cypress wood expands across the corridor, as its smooth wooden texture fosters the coziness of the home and conforms with the overall theme. Small yet exquisite furniture, and carpet totems scattered like ripples strike a balance between rectangular and circular designs. It is different from the grandeur of the public area yet maintains a sense of coziness and elegance.

07| The Center of Affection
The dining room table is the center that strengthens affection.  Though small, it is where the family can connect closely. The use of cypress not only connects the family physically, but also mentally. Like a family portrait, members of the family can connect regardless of where they may be.
 
小巧的圆桌，是家人餐叙情感交流的重心。格栅式空间界定，同时也是展示层架的一部分，更是中岛吧台实木台面的延伸。 L型桧木台面，既是轻食、备餐桌面，同时延用于空间界定与展示机能，复合式设计，让家人相伴的客、餐厅，紧密相连。
The small circular table is the center of gravity that draws the family’s affection together. The divider outlines the boarders, at the same time serves as part of the display shelf and as an extension of the solid wooden bar. The L-shaped bar can be used for a quick meal, or as a preparation area. This composite design sets spatial boundaries and serves a display that connects the living room and dining room for the family.

08| A Neighboring Forest
Being next to a forest, one can oversee an abundance of lush green trees through the bedroom window. It is a blessing to wake up to the chirping sound of birds, the blossoming of flowers and the ever-changing view of the four seasons.  
 
基地紧邻自然保留地，坐拥一窗绿树，随时都能体察四季时序变化。仿佛裱框的自然窗景，以桧木香气与之相伴。格栅式空间界定，延续公共区语汇。以实木纹理建构的主墙，让打磨得发亮的深色木纹肌理与浅色木纹立面呼应，仿佛穿越时光隧道，唤起过往记忆。
Situated next to a natural reserve forest, the home offers a neighboring view of the lush green trees that is every changing. Like a framed painting of natural scenery that matches perfectly with the aroma of cypress wood. The divider extends the theme from the public area into the private quarters. Solid wood constitutes the primary wall, and resonates with the dark and light wooden patterns on the polished surfaces like a time traveling tunnel that transcends through time and reaches out to past memories.

Utilizing the view of the forest to its fullest advantage, an aquatic spa area has been designed so that one may completely relax in hot bath without leaving the comfort of the home. Close family and friends alike may also experience the luxurious spa to wash away all weariness in a refreshing vacation atmosphere.

视听室以桧木材质延续空间语汇，极致的影音设备赋予最佳视听飨宴。从桧木香的嗅觉出发，至味觉(餐厨)、触觉(质感)、到视觉(空间、艺术、影音设备)，听觉(影音设备)到心(意境)的体验，让家的设计更臻完美。
The entertainment room further the use of cypress. The finest audio-visual components have been installed to create a feast for the senses. Beginning from the aroma of cypress, the taste of food, the touch of every texture, to the visual sensation formed by the spatial design, the art, and visual equipment, and extending to the sound of the audio equipment to create an immersive journey for the mind. This is the final touch to a perfect home.
