Pcmc is 99 square metres in size and rectangular in shape. The best feature is the bar, which is presented in the form of an open kitchen. This long bar gives you a feeling of being invited into our home as a guest as soon as you sit down. Watching them making highballs and cooking in front of you, you can feel the high quality of service.
The main material, aluminium, is modularly mounted on the walls and ceilings and all parts are produced in collaboration with many brands. Clothes and hats can be hung through this part of the walls and ceilings where the aluminium is installed, as well as artwork through collaborations with artists. I think about the sustainability of the brand and plan future collaborations and events, not just a single space.
Aeum
| Aeum
Aeum means ‘the road that surrounds’. We designed the brand to give a modern impression, a calming mood and a sense of simplicity and variety. We gave shape to the slow steamy landscape and arranged it in the logo to give it a sense of rhythm, based on the meaning of Aeums encircling path. At the same time, it contains the calm impression of Aeum.
We visualised the slow scenery of steam in various ways that reminded us of traditional Korean landscape paintings. We used white and grey as a background with light blue tones to give a sense of the atmosphere of rising water vapour at dawn.
Xokol
| Xokol
Founded in 2017 in a cramped space with room for just four tables and 16 diners, Xokol moved to a former site of a machine shop in 2020. This was done to embrace the larger venue while maintaining the privacy of the original location. In an open-plan space, the kitchen and dining room share a 15-metre-long table, with diners both witnessing and participating in the preparation of the dishes.
The exterior of the building was minimally altered, retaining the original façade, with the original steel panels acting as a filter between the interior and exterior. Inside, off-white stucco was used for the walls and ceilings, and black clay was used for the oven in the kitchen. These muted tones set off the naturally rich hues of the dishes. All materials were sourced locally and all fixtures, such as the large oak dining table, lamp metalwork and fermentation racks, were handmade by local artisans.
