PLANTEA

PLANTEA is a Madrid based practice established in 2008, to give continuity and consolidate the casual collaborations held by the team members since 2001. The work of the practice is underpinned by our strong conviction in the creative design process, with independence of the specific use, sector o escala.

The commission consisted of the complete renovation of a traditional house on the seafront of Santoña,Spain, to adapt it to the way of life and needs of the descendants of the original owners.

The interior has been completely redistrubuted. The original house was divided into small rooms, each with its own function, prepared for a conventional family situation and a life dedicated to work.

一层在住宅结构允许的范围内尽可能开放，在连续的空间中安排了厨房、餐厅、南侧带壁炉的客厅和北侧设计用于阅读、看电影或玩耍的更大的客厅。

The ground floor opens up as much as the structure of the house allows, arranging in continuous spaces the kitchen, the dining room, a living room with a fireplace on the south façade and a larger living room designed for reading, cinema or play on the north façade.

The red of the clay and metal, the pine and chestnut, are reminiscent both of Cantabrian or Basque farmhouses, with their French air, and of the Mediterranean holiday home. And it does not fail to look to northern Europe, in search of abstraction and austerity in the face of nature.

The starting point is an extraordinary space on the corner of Calle Barquillo and Fernando VI, on the ground floor of a classic building in the center of Madrid. It has a closed V shape, with access from the corner. Four openings to Barquillo, eight to Fernando IV.

With these operations we try to elevate, complete and enhance the qualities of the existing, to achieve a container toned in the red of the brick and the color of the plaster, in different textures and variations, which tries to link the traditional architecture of Madrid with the abstract condition, denuded, of modern architecture.
