Rather than investing in a house with a larger interior footprint, they “like the idea where the family members are conscious of the presence of one another”. Building on this aspiration, the first storey was reconfigured to create an open longitudinal plan that is sandwiched between a front garden and a rear herbs garden.

原先的房子两侧有隔墙和分隔空间，室内光线昏暗，通风不畅。设计师受现有建筑开窗语言的启发，在房子的前立面上开了一排高拱窗，这有助于改善这个典型的深窄布局，使自然光能够从房子的两端射入并实现通风。 With parti walls on both sides and partitioned up spaces, the previous house was dimly lit and had poor natural cross ventilation; a series of tall arch windows, inspired by the existing architectural fenestration language, were introduced on the front, helps improve the microclimate in this terrace house with a typical deep and narrow layout. Natural light is now able to penetrate from both ends of the house and achieve cross ventilation.

从入口露台到主要生活区、餐厅、厨房，再到后花园，空间布局将各个公共空间无缝地串联在一起。家庭成员在各自空间进行日常活动的同时，能够感受到彼此的存在，培养了一种联系感。 Beginning from the entrance patio to the main living area, dining, kitchen and eventually the herbs garden; the spatial arrangement knits together various communal spaces within the domestic domain seamlessly. The family members are able to be aware of each other’s presence while going through their respective daily activities from their own spaces; fostering a sense of connection.

在选择空间材料时，整个房子都使用了由各种天然材料组成的精简饰面。粉笔色调的墙壁、拉丝橡木地板、石材、亚麻布和羊毛制品，这些天然材料质朴而微妙的品质给空间带来了一种简单平静的意味。 In selecting the materials for the spaces, a pared down palette consisting of various natural materials were used throughout the entire house. Chalk-toned walls, brushed oak floorings, stone, linen and wool; the earthy and subtle qualities of these natural materials bring a sense of calmness and simplicity to the space.

不同时期的精美家具和物品被设计师搬进屋子，打造了这样一个内敛而具收藏价值的家，散发着舒适宁静的气息。 Filled with well made furniture and objects from different periods, the outcome is a humble and collected home that exudes comfort and tranquility.
