The interior of this modern office in the center of Athens was created by Block722 as the architectural studios own headquarters. The design not only responds to the daily needs of practice, it also reflects its values and iconic style, providing a tranquil, customized, and timeless environment to enhance creativity and happiness.

The studio is always looking for a space that suits its spirit and growing number of people. During the search, the team was taken to the metropolitan neighbourhood and Athens polykatoikia in the late 1960s (a popular type of apartment building in the country, usually mixing commercial and residential uses). It offers ample interior space, large windows and charming vistas. You can see the nearby green areas and the city’s iconic ancient ruins, such as the Temple of Olympian Zeus and the Acropolis, which is a perfect choice for them.

After the acquisition, the designers completely destroyed the space and transformed their original small rooms into a series of spacious and well-lit spaces. The interior now includes a reception, co-working and lounge areas, meeting rooms, and the private offices of co-founders Katja Margaritoglou and Sotiris Tsergas.

Functionality is the most important thing. Although the interior looks effortless, every inch strives to make the most of the floor space. For example, one of the meeting spaces doubles as a material library. The common areas include a fully equipped kitchen for approximately 30 employees-socializing on food is the key to this vibrant studio in miniature. The minimalist, extended window sill provides a resting place for the team to look at the ancient ruins and the wider urban landscape; it can also be used as a sample of materials to be placed and inspected on their surface under natural light.

The interior design also includes selected purchased products and artworks, such as works by Greek contemporary artist Pantelis Chandris; customized solid marble reception desks carved by local craftsman Serpentinis; fabrics woven by Athens textile artist Chrysa Georgiou and French artists Sculptures by Benoît Averly.

At the same time, a series of textures increase the richness, warmth and touch of the material. The oak surface enhances the overall softness and naturalness, elevating the interior from a simple and neutral background to a rich daily life scene.
