Housing in Tokyo presents a number of challenges. It is our belief that these can best be met by creating a charming space in a very simple form of architecture. Simplicity of style also has the added advantage that it keeps building costs down.

However, the trend seems to have become overly minimalistic and so, to counter this, we have inserted a soft-image wood plate to the square image architecture. The wood plate creates a link between the 1st and 2nd floors, which facilitates natural ventilation, and allows for sunlight to filter down from the top to the bottom floor.

The design incorporates a number of goals. It is our belief that public spaces within a house should be connected; moreover, we have paid great attention to ensure that the house is energy efficient; finally, we have sought to make use of natural ventilation throughout the house.
