Jamie‘s Italian,Birmingham英国西米德兰兹郡的意大利餐厅Industrial Detailing meets Italian HeritageHistorically Birmingham is known as the 'workshop of the world' and 'the city of a thousand trades', this industrial heritage was the starting point behind the concept for the Jamie's Italian in opposite Selfridges in the heart of the Bullring Shopping Centre, this vast 520sqm space with 7m high ceilings was transformed by utilising the height and exposed structural details to emphasise the theatre of the existing task that Blacksheep faced was to turn this space into a comfortable restaurant environment which was achieved through the use of reclaimed barn timber and the separation of the spaces via dividing walls constructed of blackened mild steel and copper wire mesh. Blacksheep introduced a raised mezzanine floor to house the WC's that incorporated a wall of reeded glass overlooking the restaurant, this was inspired by a visit to an old Fiat car factory in reclaimed industrial aesthetic is softened by the use of upholstered leather buttoned banquettes and yellow tolix chairs alongside two enormous bespoke glass chandeliers. With an open kitchen and central bar and antipasti display this Jamie's Italian uses the site to its advantage to create a sense of theatre and heritage which complements the providence of the food.
