Housing Marvá is a minimalist residence located in Valencia, Spain, designed by X arquitectos. This comprehensive renovation transforms an existing dwelling into a modern home, revealing how material continuity and carefully curated design pieces can create spatial balance and harmony while maintaining a strong connection to the Mediterranean context. Overlooking Valencia’s iconic Finca Roja, the project establishes a dialogue between the city’s historic fabric and contemporary domestic life, while addressing broader questions about renovation practices in European urban environments.

住宅内部采用石灰灰泥覆面的墙壁与天花板，赋予空间以手工艺般的质感与深度。在中性色调的基底之上，家具与自然光成为塑造空间个性的关键要素。这一设计选择回应了欧洲建筑师对传统建造技艺日益增长的兴趣——这些技艺不仅具备环保优势，也拥有工业化饰面所缺乏的触感温度。手工表面的肌理呼应了瓦伦西亚特有的地中海光照，柔化强烈对比的同时，保持视觉的纯净与清晰。

Inside, walls and ceilings finished with lime plaster bring a handcrafted texture and depth to the space. Against this neutral backdrop, furniture and natural light become the key elements defining the home’s character. This design choice reflects the growing interest among European architects in traditional building techniques—methods that not only offer environmental benefits but also a tactile richness often missing in industrial finishes. The handcrafted surfaces respond beautifully to Valencia’s Mediterranean light, softening harsh contrasts while preserving visual clarity and purity.

Throughout the residence, French oak flooring establishes a sense of material continuity. Its warm tones and pronounced grain infuse the interior with comfort and intimacy while enabling a smooth visual flow between spaces. The consistent use of flooring enhances spatial legibility, while oak’s natural variations introduce subtle rhythms that interact with shifting daylight, demonstrating how material choices can activate space through the passage of time.
