The Sea Ranch Treehouse was designed by Catherine Kwong, the founder of Catherine Kwong Design, and is located in the Sea Ranch community on the northern coast of California, USA. This residence is nestled between the redwood forest and the coastal landscape. It not only adheres to the local architectural tradition of living in harmony with nature, but also draws its design concept from the regionalist modernist practices that emerged in the 1960s, ingeniously integrating wooden structures, terrain adaptation, and climate response to create a seamless spatial system.

在空间塑造上，该住宅采用了极具特色的“树屋式”垂直层叠布局。通过建筑抬升与架空的设计手法，让建筑轻触地表，既减少对自然环境的侵占，又最大化拓展了面向森林与海岸的多维度视野。倾斜的屋顶与折线形的建筑体量，精准回应了区域内的强风气候；外部采用木材作为主要覆面材料，与周边植被的自然肌理无缝衔接，营造出低调隐匿的视觉效果。这一设计策略不仅延续了Sea Ranch片区整体的生态建造逻辑，更强化了建筑作为景观延伸的核心属性。

In terms of space design, this residence adopts a highly distinctive tree house-style vertical stacking layout. Through the design techniques of building elevation and elevated structure, the building gently touches the ground surface, which not only reduces the encroachment on the natural environment but also maximally expands the multi-dimensional views towards the forest and the coast. The inclined roof and the curved architectural form precisely respond to the strong wind climate in the region; the exterior uses wood as the main covering material, seamlessly integrating with the natural texture of the surrounding vegetation, creating a low-key and concealed visual effect. This design strategy not only continues the overall ecological construction logic of the Sea Ranch area but also strengthens the core attribute of the building as an extension of the landscape.

室内设计中，凯瑟琳·邝秉持克制且精细的更新原则，着重协调材料触感与空间节奏的和谐统一。原有木质构件被完整保留并精心修复，同时局部融入织物、陶质等温润柔软的材质，以此中和建筑结构的硬朗质感。空间布局以开放式起居区为核心，借助夹层设计与视线穿透手法，构建出富有层次的空间关系，即便是在紧凑的建筑尺度中，也能营造出丰富多变的居住体验。

In interior design, Catherine Kwong adheres to a principle of restrained and meticulous updates, focusing on harmonizing the tactile sensation of materials with the rhythm of the space. The original wooden components were fully preserved and meticulously restored. At the same time, some areas incorporated soft and warm materials such as textiles and terracotta to counterbalance the hard texture of the building structure. The spatial layout centered on an open living area, using the design of the mezzanine and the technique of line-of-sight penetration to create a layered spatial relationship. Even within the compact architectural scale, it can create a rich and diverse living experience.

此外，这座住宅所承载的生活方式，也与自然深度绑定。步行小径、海岸线漫步与林地探索，成为居民日常的重要组成部分。建筑不再是封闭的居住容器，而是成为引导人与环境互动的媒介。这种以生态体验为导向的居住模式，让Sea Ranch Treehouse不仅成为一处度假居所，更成为对当代人居与自然共生关系的全新诠释与探索。

Furthermore, the lifestyle this residence embodies is deeply intertwined with nature. Walkways, coastal walks, and forest exploration have become integral parts of residents daily lives. The building is no longer a closed living container but instead serves as a medium that facilitates interaction between people and the environment. This eco-experience-oriented living model has made the Sea Ranch Treehouse not only a vacation residence but also a fresh interpretation and exploration of the symbiotic relationship between contemporary human habitation and nature.
