Casa Cardona is an architectural proposal deeply rooted in the essential: the relationship between human beings, their environment, their identity, and the rhythms of daily life. Departing from the standardised logic of real estate development, the project emerges as a sensitive, humanist alternative—one that values natural resources, memory, and individuality to create architecture that is both authentic and meaningful.

From its conception, the project engages natural elements—light, colour, wind, shadow, and vegetation—as fundamental tools in shaping atmospheres that evolve over time. Strategically oriented openings allow controlled sunlight to enter the space, creating chromatic shifts that respond to the passage of hours and seasons. A tree, carefully integrated within the living space, marks time through its foliage, scent, and living presence. Even the colour of the walls—drawn from the tuna cardona cactus—shifts with the sun’s trajectory, giving the house a visual identity that is intimately tied to its context.

Spatially, the house is organised as a reflection of the human relationships it contains. Each room responds to the specific needs of its occupants—the grandmother, the mother, the son—each with their own world, routines, and pace. Rather than imposing a singular model of habitation, the architecture embraces diversity and recognises difference, transforming domestic space into a plural narrative. The house is not conceived as a neutral container, but as a living system that evolves in tandem with those who dwell within it.

In this way, Casa Cardona proposes an introspective and responsive architecture whose strength lies not in monumentality, but in the everyday. By reclaiming and elevating what is often considered residual—the small courtyard, the minimal room, the indirect light—the project reveals the essential within the ordinary.

More than a residential project, Casa Cardona is an architectural statement about how to build from the human. It draws on the universal resources of nature and the particularities of individual lives as drivers of design, proposing a renewed understanding of dwelling: not as a product, but as a way of existing in harmony with the environment and with others.
