The Hills of Santa Barbara residence, located in Santa Barbara, California, was designed by Corinne Mathern Studio. It covers an area of approximately 3,000 square feet and consists of two floors. The design draws inspiration from the mid-century modern style and embodies the ideal lifestyle of Santa Barbara. This residence was built for a young couple who moved from Dallas and their two wirehaired pointing griffons. It is situated on a breathtakingly beautiful plot of land, and its expansive views and natural environment have become an important reference in the overall design.

项目的主要设计灵感来自日本京都的安缦酒店(Aman Hotel, Kyoto)，其宁静氛围与住宅所处的自然景观相得益彰。科琳娜·马瑟恩(Corinne Mathern)团队在室内设计中选用了以蓝色、绿色和黄色为主的自然色调，并辅以原木、质感黏土及柔和石材，打造出空间的流动性与整体平衡感。材料的组合不仅强调了视觉上的和谐，也营造了人与自然环境之间的无缝连接，使室内与户外区域在体验上融为一体。

The main design inspiration for this project comes from the Aman Hotel in Kyoto, Japan. Its serene atmosphere complements the natural landscape where the residence is located. The Corinne Mathern team chose natural tones dominated by blue, green, and yellow in the interior design, supplemented by wood, textured clay, and soft stone, creating a sense of fluidity and overall balance in the space. The combination of materials not only emphasizes visual harmony but also creates a seamless connection between humans and the natural environment, allowing the indoor and outdoor areas to blend together in terms of experience.

Each room and corner of the residence has been meticulously designed. The custom-made furniture was crafted by Corinne Mathern Studio, while the lighting fixtures came from Atelier de Troupe, Ruemmler and Workstead. These pieces echo the works of artists such as Gala Porras-Kim and Michael Wilson, creating a rich and layered dialogue of space. This combination of art and design not only highlights the taste of the occupants but also strengthens the interaction between the home and the natural landscape in every detail.

The entire residence is designed as a peaceful secluded space, paying tribute to the surrounding natural environment. From the selection of materials, the matching of colors, to the arrangement of furniture and artworks, all demonstrate profound contemplation on the order of the space and the living experience. Each element exists independently yet echoes with one another, creating a serene, balanced and poetic atmosphere of life.
