Case Study House位于洛杉矶历史悠久的 Mar Vista Tract 社区，这座由设计师 妮娜·弗洛伊登伯格（Nina Freudenberger） 改造的住宅，是对战后现代主义建筑传统的一次当代回应。该片区最初由著名建筑师 格雷戈里·艾因（Gregory Ain） 规划，聚集了典型的中世纪现代住宅，而本案则是一幢极具代表性的建筑。其原屋主是一位享年99岁的摄影师，房屋内部宛如时间胶囊，保留了丰富而古怪的个人印记，但在日常功能上已难以满足新住户的需求。

Case Study House is located in the historic Mar Vista Tract neighborhood of Los Angeles. This residence, renovated by designer Nina Freudenberger, is a contemporary response to the tradition of postmodernist architecture. This area was originally planned by the renowned architect Gregory Ain, gathering typical medieval modern residences, and this case is a highly representative building. The original owner of the house was a 99-year-old photographer who passed away. The interior of the house is like a time capsule, retaining rich and quirky personal imprints, but it is no longer sufficient to meet the needs of the new resident in terms of daily functions.

在改造过程中，弗洛伊登伯格展现出对历史语境的尊重。她并未将原有的空间彻底推翻，而是通过重组布局与材质叠加，为年轻四口之家营造出兼具实用性与个性化的生活场景。建筑的内部格局被精心调整：主卧室被移至更为静谧的区域，以确保隐私与安宁；儿童房之间新增一间 Jack and Jill 浴室，提升了家庭生活的便利性；此外，第四间卧室则被设定为兼具客房与书房功能的灵活空间，回应了当代家庭对多重使用的需求。

During the renovation process, Floydenberg demonstrated respect for the historical context. She did not completely overthrow the original space but instead created a practical and personalized living scene for the young family of four by reorganizing the layout and superimposing materials. The interior layout of the building has been carefully adjusted: the master bedroom has been moved to a quieter area to ensure privacy and tranquility; A new Jack and Jill bathroom has been added between the childrens rooms, enhancing the convenience of family life. In addition, the fourth bedroom is designed as a flexible space that combines the functions of a guest room and a study, responding to the contemporary familys demand for multiple uses.

房屋的核心是一体化的客厅与厨房，这一开放式空间不仅加强了家庭成员之间的互动，也使居住氛围更为轻松。主卧套间则成为私密的休憩之所，窗外延展至树梢的景色，赋予了自然性的延续与精神的慰藉。

The core of the house is the integrated living room and kitchen. This open space not only enhances the interaction among family members but also makes the living atmosphere more relaxed. The master bedroom suite becomes a private resting place. The view extending from the window to the treetops offers a continuation of naturalness and spiritual comfort.

在美学策略上，弗洛伊登伯格采取了克制而精巧的手法：复古与当代家具并置，色彩运用低调含蓄，自然肌理与光影交织，营造出一种介于温暖与理性之间的张力。正是这种对细节的谨慎拿捏，使得这座中世纪现代住宅在焕新之后依旧保持了其独特的历史气息，同时彰显出当代家庭生活的舒适与活力。

In terms of aesthetic strategy, Floydenberg adopts a restrained yet ingenious approach: vintage and contemporary furniture are placed side by side, colors are used in a low-key and reserved manner, and natural textures and light and shadow interweave, creating a tension that lies between warmth and rationality. It is precisely this meticulous attention to detail that enables this medieval modern residence to retain its unique historical atmosphere after renovation, while also highlighting the comfort and vitality of contemporary family life.
