Deep in the rainforest of the Parish of Portland, Jamaica, lies a unique structure called Pompey. This is the vacation refuge of the famous American DJ Diplo, and also an art space that integrates nature, architecture and creativity. Here, the tranquility of nature is interwoven with the sophistication of design, creating an ideal place to get away from the hustle and bustle and reconnect with inspiration.

Pompeys design, by Freecell Architecture in collaboration with Gia Wolff, uses concrete, a strong and rustic material. The geometric lines of the building fit perfectly with the mystery of the surrounding jungle, while the openings in the building capture the dynamics of light and shadow, echoing the trajectory of the sun. Extended eaves and wooden lattices regulate light and ventilation while maintaining an intimate interaction between the interior and exterior.

整个设计从一开始便深思熟虑，尽可能减少对环境的干扰。混凝土体量经过精确的切割，确保自然光线与清新的空气能自由流通，而建筑的露台与步道设计则保护了现有树木的根部，让原生植被得以繁茂生长。当地提取的石灰石和木材不仅减少了施工对环境的影响，还让建筑在视觉上与周围景观融为一体。

The design has been deliberate from the outset to minimize environmental disturbance. The concrete volumes are precisely cut to ensure the free flow of natural light and fresh air, while the buildings terraces and walkways protect the roots of existing trees and allow native vegetation to flourish. The locally extracted limestone and wood not only reduced the environmental impact of the construction, but also allowed the building to visually blend in with the surrounding landscape.

室内设计由 Sara Nataf 和 Katelyn Hinden 联手打造，通过自然元素和艺术的融合，呈现出一种温暖而质朴的氛围。设计灵感源自中美洲的祖先文化，佩德罗·雷耶斯（Pedro Reyes）的雕塑和索菲亚·隆多尼奥（Sofía Londoño）的陶瓷壁画，进一步强化了空间的历史感与艺术氛围。

The interior design, created by Sara Nataf and Katelyn Hinden, presents a warm and rustic atmosphere through the fusion of natural elements and art. Inspired by the ancestral cultures of Central America, the sculptures of Pedro Reyes and the ceramic murals of Sofia Londono further enhance the historical and artistic atmosphere of the space.

The furniture uses hand-crafted pieces, such as Vince Skellys wood carvings, whose organic forms accentuate the natural beauty of wood. The exposed concrete walls contrast with the earth-colored soft furnishings, adding intimacy and comfort to the space. This design language not only pursues visual beauty, but also pays more attention to the feelings of occupants, creating a peaceful spiritual habitat.

At the heart of Pompey is a self-contained recording studio known as the Sound bunker. It blends state-of-the-art recording equipment with the natural environment, providing a unique space for music creation. Recording studio Windows face the jungle, while outdoor terraces bring natural sounds and atmosphere into the creative process. Diplo and other artists can immerse themselves in making music while feeling the healing power of nature. The studio has been designed with the same focus on sustainability, using recycled materials, optimising natural lighting and equipped with comfortable furniture for long periods of use.

Pompey 住宅是一种与自然和谐共处的生活方式。周围的花园由 Geoponika 设计，种植了大量当地植物，如兰花、竹子和棕榈树，形成一个丰富的生态系统。此外，这里还有一个有机农场，提供新鲜食材，同时配备了雨水收集系统和探索当地动植物的小径。瑜伽馆、养蜂场和马场进一步增强了人与自然的联系，提供了身心平衡的独特体验。

Pompey House is a way of life in harmony with nature. The surrounding gardens, designed by Geoponika, are planted with a large number of local plants such as orchids, bamboo and palm trees, forming a rich ecosystem. In addition, there is an organic farm that provides fresh ingredients, as well as a rainwater collection system and trails to explore local flora and fauna. Yoga studios, apiaries and horse farms further enhance the connection between man and nature, providing a unique experience of physical and mental balance.

Diplo considers Pompey his most accomplished album. It is Diplos affectionate confession of life and artistic exploration. Deep in this jungle, the building tells a beautiful story about man and nature, art and creativity. This space is not only a resort, but also a tribute to Jamaican culture and nature. Through Pompey, Diplo has succeeded in creating a place where art and nature meet, where everyone who visits can feel a sense of calm, inspiration and creativity.
