This historic Georgian townhouse is located in Clerkenwell, London. Under the careful design of designer Rachael Gowdridge, it has achieved a gorgeous transformation from the inside out.

这座拥有数百年历史的建筑曾面临诸多挑战，狭窄空间、摇摇晃晃的墙壁和深色地板并未阻挡改造的步伐。设计师与客户决心与建筑团队合作，在保留其特色的同时进行升级。通过更换天花板玫瑰和檐口，恢复了格鲁吉亚风格。从建筑的地区、时期和个性中汲取灵感，而非强加自己的风格。

The centuries-old building has faced many challenges, but cramped Spaces, rickety walls and dark floors have not stopped the pace of transformation. The designer and client were determined to work with the architectural team to upgrade it while retaining its character. The Georgian style was restored by replacing the ceiling roses and cornice. Draw inspiration from the region, period and personality of the building rather than imposing your own style.

A number of different areas have been created within the villa, such as the formal first floor living room, suitable for quiet reading or temporary entertainment; The comfortable Spaces on the ground floor create an atmosphere of serene neutral tones and layered fabrics, displaying beautiful sculptures.

The house features an exquisite collection of art and furniture, carefully selected by the owner and Rachael from auctions and small galleries, and artfully assembled. Rachael draws on his experience in sourcing and furnishing for stylish hotels, building relationships with artisan manufacturers to add a unique touch to the home.

Furniture is a key part, from wool chairs to cocoon-shaped sofas, with soft natural fabrics and curtains to add an inviting feel, partly reflecting the Irish heritage of the owners. The introduction of art works adds color to the space, such as a figurative painting of the dining room and an abstract oil painting of the comfort zone.

The corridor is paired with monochrome etchings by Victor Passmore for added drama. The kitchen showcases the owners best glassware, the pear paintings fit perfectly with the space, the chandeliers are from Rose Uniacke, and the walls are warm and light in color. The linen bedding in the master bedroom is more leisurely, the bathroom is as luxurious as enjoying the space, and the woolen leather armchairs continue the continuity of the whole house.
