In Paris, an Ottoman-style townhouse apartment has undergone a wonderful upgrade. The mansion was just opened by Wilmotte -amp; Restored by Associes, Josephine Fossey was commissioned to do interior design for families with young children.

Fossey is a designer and art curator, often working as a creative director on projects around the world. She is largely inspired by her Scandinavian background and loves a minimalist and warm style. In this project, she has taken a careful approach to modernizing the apartments, incorporating new works into the spectacular architecture of the Ottoman style, seeking accuracy and balance so that each space exudes a timeless charm.

The walls of the apartment are in a neutral beige color that complements the parquet floors. The childrens playroom is slightly dark, like a self-contained box. When it comes to furniture, Fossey prefers authentic and natural materials such as stone, travertine and oak.

The interior design incorporates pieces from different eras and styles, with both retro elements and modern innovations. In the living room, Christophe Delcourts sofa complements Joseph Savinas 1950s armchair, reflecting the pursuit of timelessness. Fossey also invited many creative talents to collaborate, such as Jeremy Maxwell Wintrebert to create a large chandelier for the restaurant.

She is passionate about showcasing the work of young designers and artists, making room for artistic favourites and memorable encounters such as the custom-glazed ceramic installation created in the kitchen by artist Charlotte Duale.

Fossey started out curating Impressionist and modern art at Christies, always sensitive to the history of places and objects. Today, she sees decoration as an art curator, pursuing the ideas of the arts and crafts movement, dedicated to bringing beauty into everyday life. The art design of Paris dispels the space level here, breaks the time boundary, breeds new vitality in the old atmosphere, and creates a delicate, fresh, cordial and warm space.
