The Victorian terraced house was crafted by Murude Katipoglu and her interior design and architecture studio. Built between the mid-1930s and late 1940s, the 5,000-square-foot, five-story structure has two sitting and living areas, six bedrooms and six bathrooms, as well as a basement, lower garden and three floors with a gym.

The structure of the house is like a fine painting, with high ceilings, tall window sashes and fine cornice details providing an excellent basis for the interior design. Murude Katipoglu and the interior design and architecture studio in which he is based have keenly captured this character, breathing new life into the house with art at its core.

The owners are a young couple in their early thirties, who started from a blank, with a love of art and a beautiful vision of life. Hoping to showcase special works, such as Fear Eats The Soul by Rirkrit Tiravanija of sentimental value, which takes centre stage in the ground-floor lounge, The combination of Beetle sconces from 1st Dibs L7 Gallery, sculptural metal Elena ceiling lamps and Paolo Moschinos bronz-green painted plaster creates an elegant and unique atmosphere.

Soft colours, textured fabrics and curved shapes give the room a sense of flow and comfort.

The owners wanted the house to be child-friendly, but also had areas to entertain friends and family. In the living room, dark stained oak cabinets and the bar are balanced by richly textured marble countertops. A small painting by a contemporary Scottish artist also added a unique charm to the living room, and the design incorporating the artwork into the bar walls became a favorite of the owners.

The cosy areas are separated from the living room by full-height crittall doors, creating a quiet and private space that can be used as a home office or holiday resort. Tall window sashes bring in plenty of daylight, and thick transparent curtains replace heavy blinds to keep the light transparent.
