Located on a site in Subiaco known for eclectic buildings and villas, Proclamation Houses sculptural facade makes it stand out from the entire streetscape. The design cleverly draws on the architectural forms of the regions most traditional character homes, incorporating the local cultural language in a sensitive and thoughtful way, redefining urban life with immersive and innovative thinking.

Redesigned by the State of Kin, the light-filled indoor living space is integrated with a spacious outdoor activity space. The design forms cleverly echo the traditional elements of the existing villa, while the new, bold, angular and abstract addition revitalises the single-storey facades. Raw olive colors are interwoven with verdant streetscapes and two sprawling native mint trees, and the rustic exterior contrasts with the crisp aluminum awning.

Local plants occupy a large area between the street and the entrance, providing a harmonious blend of interior and exterior. A sloping roof on the ground floor features a distinctive light well that brings natural light into the interior. Communal living areas are carefully arranged around the central garden to allow for the sharing of ample light, greenery and natural ventilation. A glass door leads from the central garden to a separate bedroom and bathroom, with a second floor mezzanine with study areas and temporary rooms.

The olive tone of the building continues into the interior, making the exterior and interior Spaces a complete, cohesive and comfortable whole. Concrete, brushed stainless steel, natural stone, warm walnut, black oiled wood complement the minimalist color palette, giving depth and texture to the design; A selection of furniture and decorative pieces add a touch of softness to home life.
