The work presented in the Rotunda is made up of mirrors on the floor. Visitors must wear overshoes to access this area. Skirts are not recommended and stilettos are forbidden.
作为“Le monde comme il va”展览的一部分,韩国艺术家金秀子(Kimsooja)将全权展出名为“呼吸-星座”的作品。她在巴黎商业交易所(Bourse de Commerce)圆形大厅(Rotunda)的装置作品既不朽又空灵:地板上的一面巨大的镜子,当你走近时,它将建筑和世界的秩序颠倒过来,天空在建筑的中央,在我们的脚下打开。
As part of the Le monde comme il va exhibition, South Korean artist Kimsooja is presenting a carte blanche entitled To Breathe - Constellation. Her installation in the Rotunda of the Bourse de Commerce is both monumental and ethereal: an immense mirror on the floor that, as one approaches, inverts the architecture and the order of the world with it, the sky opening up in the middle of the building, beneath our feet.
Kimsooja还接管了通道和博物馆下层的24个展示柜,其中的作品和视频装置讲述了她最喜欢的主题:身份、边界、记忆、流亡、运动和编织。
Kimsooja is also taking over the 24 display cases in the Passage and the lower level of the museum with works and video installations that address her favourite themes: identity, borders, memory, exile, movement, and weaving.
“I would like to create works that are like water and air, which we cannot possess but which can be shared with everyone”, Kimsooja says. Since the late 70s, her work has asserted itself on the international art scene as an essential, universal experience.
在首尔学习绘画后,她远离所有的艺术教学和实践,拥抱缝纫等日常动作,探索身份、参与、个人和集体记忆、个人在世界上的位置等问题。
After studying painting in Seoul, she distanced herself from all art teachings and practice, embracing everyday gestures such as sewing to explore the issues of identity, involvement, individual and collective memory, and the individual’s place in the world.
作为一名游牧艺术家,她称自己为“世界无政府主义者”,Kimsooja隐喻地把自己的身体当作一种匿名的、几乎看不见的存在,它的不动和垂直性成为一种针,穿过世界的结构。
As a nomadic artist, a “cosmopolitan anarchist” as she calls herself, Kimsooja metaphorically uses her own body like an anonymous, almost invisible presence whose immobility and verticality become a kind of needle that threads through the fabric of the world.

The mirror that she has used to cover the floor of the Rotunda of the Bourse de Commerce plays a similar role to that of the needle or of her own body. “The mirror replaces the body, observing and reflecting the other”
