With a practice grounded in renovating existing spaces, Studio Noakes embarked on a comprehensive renovation of this historical warehouse apartment to both preserve and enhance the original industrial features.

虽然该公寓保留了工业时代的历史特征，如高高的天花板、粗壮的硬木柱和椽子，但之前的改建削弱了它们的重要性。我们的目标不仅是揭开公寓丰富的历史面纱，还要为客户--一位年轻的本地艺术家--的创意空间注入活力。

While the apartment retained the historical attributes of its industrial era, such as high ceilings, robust hardwood columns and rafters, prior alternations had diminished their prominence. The objective was not only to unveil the apartment’s rich history but also to infuse the space with the creative disposition of their client, a young local artist.

The apartment is akin to a well-tailored suit. It is designed to be smart, sophisticated and beautifully crafted, but also extremely comfortable, durable and made to last. Customised for the clients’ lifestyle, it provides calm, meditative spaces for everyday living, with a sense of drama that injects a glamourous overlay for entertaining at night.

传统的日本 Karesansui 花园或 禅 花园最初是为了冥想和躲避外部世界而建造的，这座公寓给人一种非常隐蔽和私密的感觉。它的设计具有双重功能--私密、安静的家庭生活和有趣的晚间娱乐。

The history of a traditional Japanese ‘Karesansui’ or ‘Zen’ garden was created originally for meditation and to escape from the outside world and this apartment feels very secluded and private. It is very much designed to serve dual functions – private, quiet, family living and fun, evening entertaining.
