CKR Residence is a sophisticated family home that demonstrates a unified vision between the interior design studio and the client. This residence features crisp whites, warm wood, soft curves and functional forms that embody the refined elegance of European homes.

Inspired by the clients desire for a peaceful living environment, Studio Liu creates a timeless design space that puts durability above trends. We wanted this house to demonstrate our thoughtful and restrained approach to home design. Says Louise Liu, creative director of Studio Liu. Using the artistic expression of James Turrell, they challenge the visual and spatial perception of the house and change the way people see and perceive. We wanted to plan each space through subtle layers of form, material and tone that together make up a richly layered landscape. In addition, they also pay great attention to the seamless flow of the floor plan. We want the space to unfold as people move, whether looking up at the sky through skylights or through unexpected material changes.

We wanted this house to demonstrate our philosophy of careful thought and restrained home design. Louise Liu. Given Studio Lius clients preference for minimalist finishes, they were able to focus on material quality and the selection of long-lasting, natural finishes. For this reason, materials such as marble, plaster, wood and metal are chosen for their durability. In addition, each space is carefully planned, including the form, furniture and material layers, with subtle colors. The house also showcases overall natural stone features, such as benches and fireplaces in the kitchen, as well as curved elements such as stairs. From the one-piece handles to the custom lighting, every element shows exquisite craftsmanship and a unique personality, said Louise.

The core of the interior design of the home is the mutual influence of tone and texture. Our clients have a keen eye for detail, so together we designed a minimum of finishes, reducing waste while also living up to our commitment to mindful design, says Louise. The palette covers a range of natural and robust finishes, such as Venetian plaster, natural stone and Venetian walls. In addition, vintage metal finishes have been strategically incorporated to enhance depth and tactile exploration of luxury.

Louise said: The client has a great eye for detail, so we worked together to create a minimalist finish that reduces waste while also living up to our commitment to mindful design. CKR Residence is a family home characterized by enduring balance and substance. Louise said: We work closely with our clients to make sure the space fits their personality, which is so important in the home. In addition, we aim to make the house reflect slow living and meaningful architecture. Our vision is a harmonious unity of form and function, celebrating the beauty of imagery.
