The province of Limburg in the Netherlands is located directly between Belgium and Germany. In the border town of Sitad, Niels Maiers mission is to renovate a previously dark and divided house from the 1970s to adapt to modern life. The tactile color palette, combined with clever lighting insertion and every connection to the outdoors, paves the way for intimate family homes.

The walls and ceilings of each room are made of natural clay plaster, providing a canvas for the exquisite light and shadow cast throughout the day. The morning is bright and soft, and the evening is intimate and comfortable. The seamless color matching of micro cement flooring enhances the overall integrity and delicacy of the house.

Skylights and spacious full height openings bring light and scenery into the home. Internally, glass partitions and internal windows achieve the same effect, directing light into darker areas as the sun passes through the space.

The double height lounge is equipped with a combination of new and old furniture; This is a recurring clue in the Niels residential project portfolio. Necessary design elements, including tactile linen yarn and slender fireplace, will only enhance the beauty of the smallest space.
