Toru Shimokawa Architects is a Japanese architectural design firm founded in 2005 by Toru Shimokawa (Toru Shimokawa), a young architect of the new school. Toru Shimokawa was born in Fukuoka, Japan, in 1983 and won the prestigious Bauwelt Prize 2009 (Berlin) for architecture for the first time at the age of 26.

In terms of architectural details, he takes functionality and durability into comprehensive consideration, pays attention to interior details, and is good at creating situational atmosphere and living comfort.

This is a restaurant renovation project in a hotel in Saga City, Japan. In the existing plan, the architects retained the original pine ceiling and the brick foundation that was left when the main building was demolished. Inspired by the hotel operators emphasis on the preparation of seafood dishes, the potters invested a great deal of time and effort in making glazed tiles with a unique lapis lazuli glaze, making it one of the main skin materials of the space.
