白俄罗斯建筑师和室内设计师Kanstantsin Remez在看到East Street Apartment 的那一秒就爱上了它。这座低调的 62 ㎡公寓坐落于纽约市曼哈顿中心一座历史悠久的野兽派风格建筑内。Kanstantsin 称其为“无声的归隐”；“抵御外界喧嚣的屏障。”

Belarusian architect and interior designer Kanstantsin Remez fell in love with East Street the second he laid eyes on it. The understated 62-square-metre apartment is situated in a historical Brutalist-style building in the eye of Manhattan, New York City. Kanstantsin calls it a “silent retreat”; “a shield from the hustle and bustle of the outside world.”

“I see architecture as a language, paying attention to every detail, expressing myself through the means of shape, proportions and textures, and building relations between them,” Kanstantsin says. When designing East Street, the shapes needed to fit within the existing volumes of the building, the proportions needed to be adjusted accordingly, and the textures needed to evoke a “silent retreat”.

Harsh textures like concrete, stone and brick, which were needed to lay the foundations, are offset by soft, reposeful textures like velvet, fur and timber.

Driving by the goal of creating a peaceful and quiet home in the middle of such a vibrant and hectic city as New York, I peeled everything that felt excessive and out of place and tried to bring balance into the abundance of forms and volumes.

Layout-wise, the living and dining areas remain open to maximise the little space that was available, while the kitchen nook creates a small pocket of privacy when cooking. The kitchen nook features the Vola 500T1-590 kitchen mixer in gold and the trizo21 Audy-Wall 1S wall light.The space is simple, comfortable, neat and suitable.

Different sounds of beige play throughout the dining room, imparting a collection of minimalist, gentle spaces which don’t overwhelm the senses. While being dressed in beige, the interiors were also undressed of anything excessive or unnecessary, helping to carve out this minimalist aesthetic.

大理石储物柜一一陈列于入口大厅，通向卧室和浴室——它们如沉默的巨人，静静地驻立，可以抵挡任何“喧嚣”。

Marble storage cabinets line the entrance hall instead of an idle walk-in closet, leading to the bedroom and bathroom – standing at one corner silently, like a giant, tucked away to elude any “hustle and bustle”.

The bedroom is deocorate with white and beige.It seems that the carved window is half-asleep, one half is in the light, and the other is in the dark, which can be slightly sensed, with a faint gleam.

“通过剥离与整体不和的物件，我能够在形体的丰盈度与简洁性中取得平衡，”Kanstantsin 如是说。

“By peeling away anything that felt out of place, I was able to bring balance into the abundance of forms and volumes,” Kanstantsin says.

Kanstantsin又道：”设计是基于不同体积的组合，调整它们的比例，然后在它们之间创造对话。”

Kanstantsin also said,“The design is based on a combination of different volumes, tuning their proportions, creating a dialogue between them.”

Bathroom

浴室配有一深木色矮凳，银色金属淋浴头和银色圆孔吸顶灯。同时，洗浴台处配有嵌入式镜柜和白色中型壁挂盆。

One deep wooden chair is pictured in the bathroom, along with the silver metal shower mixer and two silver round ceiling light. Also， the basin is equipped with the Trove recessed mirrored cabinet and Rockwell medium wall hung basin from The Water Monopoly.
