Luxurious, capturing the feel of a modern beach house, but pared down through a refined choice of tonal materials of limestone, wood, plastered walls and bronze highlights, the spacious three-storey residence was designed as a place for a young family to escape the city.

To meet this requirement, the entire site was deeply excavated, resulting in a new lower level entirely dedicated to leisure and wellness.

In the master suite, pastel tones are a quiet accompaniment to the curved vanity, covered in microcement. The one-piece washbasin is handcrafted from soft white Elba marble, which complements the textured Marmarino plastered walls.

So, its no surprise that when the Barceló Hotel group asked him to add his unique touch to the redesign of the Barceló Torre de Madrid Hotel the results would be exceptional: The 142 meter tall building was constructed in 1957 and nine of its thirty four floors now house this ambitious hotel which has already become a modern landmark and a compliment to the arty Spanish metropolis it calls home.

Other elements - such as the various architectural details which bring to mind Roman archways and Moorish influences; the brass drawings in the windows which feature various cultural emblems; and the art on the walls which Jaime commissioned from multimedia artists, Nienke Klunder and Wiglius de Bie, of KlunderBie - are all a direct reference to Spains diverse and rich cultural heritage. However, these are presented in such as way as to perfectly harmonize with Jaimes artistic fingerprint which is also visible in all the furnishings and light fixtures throughout, the results of Jaimes collaboration with major design houses such as Cassina, Fritz Hansen, and BD Barcelona, among others.
