Taipei interior designer J in Chen is known for his minimalist style, with a touch of wabi-sabi. The self-taught designer started as an antique furniture dealer and extended his aesthetic ideas to his own projects. Although the interior of the space is inspired by the charm of decorative arts, Xiangse’s space and his overall approach are in one The subtle interaction of modern and retro works in a rustic space without furniture has become Chens iconic spatial language in Taiwan.

ECRU Studio 在台湾台北市大安区的一间紧凑型公寓中融合了质朴的温暖和欧洲的设计感。设计过程是关于增加层次，但也减少到最低限度，以创造简单并实现和谐感。通过柔和的色调和触觉材料探索新旧之间的紧张关系。

ECRU Studio combines rustic warmth and European design in a compact apartment in Daan District, Taipei City, Taiwan. The design process is about adding layers, but also reducing to a minimum, to create simplicity and achieve a sense of harmony. Explore the tension between the old and the new through soft tones and tactile materials.

ECRU Studio 的 Jin Chen 将原始和现代设计相结合，创造出永恒的室内设计，其中材料起着重要的作用。这位台湾设计师能够将他对古董的热情转化为成功的故事。

Jin Chen of ECRU Studio combines original and modern design to create a timeless interior design, in which materials play an important role. This Taiwanese designer was able to turn his passion for antiques into a success story.

DESIGN DESCRIPTION

我们在这里展示的图片是T House，Jin Chen 和他的团队的第一个住宅项目。这座150平方米的房子坐落在距离台北金融区不远的一座山上。设计师告诉我们，尝试其他组合和材料并用不同风格和时期的家具和装饰来装饰房子是一个很好的挑战。我们看到 Borge Mørgensen、Giancarlo Piretti、Pierre Chapo 和 Ingvar Hildingsson 等人的几件复古作品，旁边还有更现代的设计。还添加了一些定制项目。结果确实是一个完美平衡的整体，散发着纯洁和诚实。

The picture we show here is T House, the first residential project of Jin Chen and his team. This 150-square-meter house is located on a hill not far from Taipei’s financial district. The designer told us that trying other combinations and materials and decorating the house with furniture and decorations of different styles and periods is a good challenge. We see several vintage works by Borge Mørgensen, Giancarlo Piretti, Pierre Chapo and Ingvar Hildingsson, with more modern designs next to them. Some customization items have also been added. The result is indeed a perfectly balanced whole, exuding purity and honesty.

在创立ECRU Studio之前，Jin Chen 在音乐行业工作了好几年。然而，他无法摆脱另一大热情——设计，2014年，他在家乡台北开了一家古董店。室内设计由他亲自打理，并因此获得高度评价，导致其后不久就有许多商业项目的要求。然而，真正的设计工作室的形成还需要几年的时间。

Before founding ECRU Studio, Jin Chen worked in the music industry for several years. However, he couldnt get rid of another passion-design. In 2014, he opened an antique shop in his hometown of Taipei. The interior design was taken care of by him personally, and was highly praised for this, which led to many commercial project requirements soon afterwards. However, the formation of a real design studio will take several years.

2018年 ECRU Studio 正式成立，其创始人现在与一个由设计师、建筑师和装饰师组成的小团队合作。将他们的项目与某种风格联系起来并不容易，这也不是这家台湾设计工作室的目标。相当，重要的是要分享他们所代表的意思，这是一种始终在经典与现代元素之间取得平衡的纯粹而诚实的设计。这已成为陈在台湾的标志性空间语言。

ECRU Studio was formally established in 2018, and its founder is now working with a small team of designers, architects and decorators. It is not easy to associate their projects with a certain style, and this is not the goal of this Taiwanese design studio. Quite, it is important to share what they represent. This is a pure and honest design that always strikes a balance between classic and modern elements. This has become Chens iconic spatial language in Taiwan.
