Founded by Chinese architect Ma Yansong in 2004, MAD Architects is a global architecture firm committed to developing futuristic, organic, technologically advanced designs that embody a contemporary interpretation of the Eastern affinity for nature. With its core design philosophy of Shanshui City – a vision for the city of the future based in the spiritual and emotional needs of residents – MAD endeavors to create a balance between humanity, the city, and the environment.

Wormhole Library

由马岩松领导的MAD建筑事务所发布了位于中国海南省海口市沿海的虫洞图书馆的设计。感性弯曲的展馆似乎是一个“云洞”，超越了时间和空间。它作为一个多功能的建筑，可以让游客阅读，欣赏海景，参加露天表演，暂时远离日常生活的喧嚣。该建筑目前正在建设中，将于2021年完工。

Led by Ma Yansong, MAD Architects releases the design of the Wormhole Library, which sits on the coast in Haikou, Hainan Province in China. The sensuously curved pavilion appears to be a “wormhole” that transcends time and space. It serves as a multi-functional building that allows visitors to read, enjoy views of the sea, and attend open-air performances, temporarily removing themselves from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The building is now under construction and will be completed in 2021.

云洞图书馆位于海口海岸线上的世纪公园，面朝南海。紧凑的结构以白色混凝土浇铸为一个单元。弯曲的混凝土墙不仅作为有机的建筑结构，还将天花板、地面和墙壁连接在一起。不同大小的洞让建筑能够呼吸，同时也让自然光充满室内。外部走廊的灰色空间为行人提供了阴凉的场所，让他们停下来休息。

Facing the South China Sea, the Wormhole Library is located in Century Park along the Haikou Bay coastline. The intimately scaled structure is cast of white concrete as a unit. The curved concrete walls not only serve as organic architectural structure, but also connect the ceiling, the ground and the walls together. Holes of varying sizes allow the architecture to breathe and meanwhile let natural light flood the interior. The grey spaces of the exterior corridors provide shady spots for passers-by to stop and rest.

为了确保曲面的准确性和无缝性，建筑正在使用CNC和3D打印模型进行铸造。所有的MEP都被设计隐藏在混凝土腔内，以尽量减少其外观，并创造视觉一致性。弯曲的滑动门和可伸缩的玻璃幕墙不仅提供了海景，也增强了整体的空气流通和通风。为了适应当地的天气条件，向阳一侧的屋顶被悬挑，以达到舒适的温度，实现了可持续和节能建筑。

To ensure accuracy and seamlessness across the curved surfaces, the building is being cast using both a CNC and 3D printed model. All MEP has been designed to be hidden within the concrete cavity to minimize its appearance and create visual consistency. Curved sliding doors and retractable glass curtain walls not only provide views of the sea, but also enhance overall airflow and ventilation. In response to local weather conditions, the roof on the sunny side is cantilevered to achieve comfortable temperatures, realizing a sustainable and energy-saving building.

Yabuli Entrepreneurs Congress Center

2017年，MAD建筑事务所受亚布力CEF委托，为其年度峰会设计和建造永久性会场;一个可以承载其成员企业家精神的里程碑。MAD设想的建筑镶嵌在山林之中，是一个充满活力和创造力的地方，体现着企业家的胆识和智慧。

In 2017, MAD Architects was commissioned by the Yabuli CEF to design and build a permanent venue for their annual summits; a landmark which could carry their members’ entrepreneurial spirit. MAD envisioned a building embedded in the mountain forest, a place of strong vitality and creativity to embody the entrepreneurs’ boldness and wisdom.

在亚布力山区，MAD的方案让人想起了坐落在山脚下的帐篷的概念，其柔软、弯曲、银白色的屋顶与周围白雪覆盖的山丘相呼应。白天，自然光通过巨大的玻璃天窗照射到内部空间。到了晚上，同样的天窗让温暖的光芒从大楼飘向寒冷的山林，让人想起企业家们围坐在篝火旁分享想法、想法和故事的场景。室内，木墙和自然光的融合创造了温暖、柔和的氛围，而室外公共广场和玻璃走道让用户惊叹，并从建筑与自然之间的联系中获得灵感。

Nestled among Yabuli’s mountainous terrain, MAD’s scheme evokes the concept of a tent sitting at the foot of a mountain, with its soft, curving, silver-white rooftop echoing the snow-capped hills surrounding it. During the day, natural light floods the internal spaces through a giant glass skylight. At night, the same skylight allows a warm glow to soar from the building into the cold mountain forest, evoking the image of a campfire around which entrepreneurs share ideas, thoughts, and stories. Inside, a blend of wooden walls and natural light create a warm, soft atmosphere, while an outdoor public plaza and glass walkway allow users to marvel and be inspired by the connection between architecture and nature.

除了作为大型会议的东道主，场地还包括展览厅、会议室和电视厅，创造了一个混合使用的空间，可以容纳会议、企业培训和其他活动。场馆也向公众开放，展厅是展示和探索中国创业的宝贵工具。

Alongside its role as a host for large-scale conferences, the venue also contains an exhibition hall, meeting rooms, and a television hall, creating a blend of mixed-use spaces that can accommodate conferences, corporate training, and other events. The venue is also open to the public, with the exhibition hall serving as a valuable tool for showcasing and exploring Chinese entrepreneurship.
