Studio AUTORI have revealed a dreamy interior scheme for Sofi cosmetics in Belgrade, Serbia. Sheer curtains softly cascade down the store’s perimeter, meeting the rocky white face of scattered marble plinths. Raw materials ground the design, mirroring the company’s focus on “fully exposed natural ingredients”.

Studio AUTORI balanced approach weaves together solid, monolithic forms with soft, delicate materials. Elements sit incongruent to one another, however somehow still manage to speak in a unified language. Matt coloured burgundy counters and display shelves enable interplay of light and shadow, injecting a sense of movement within the space. A display shelf’s contorted form, reminiscent of the flexible body of an accordion, stretches across the store. Its unique geometry elevates the simple experience of selecting a product, bringing interest to every customer interaction.

Large chunks of discarded marble sourced from a local quarry (‘Planit’ from Croatia and ‘Maljat’ from Montenegro) have taken on a new life at Sofi. Their rough, rugged surfaces offer a counterpoint to the clean geometries of surrounding furniture. A circular sink is carved flawlessly out of a piece of fragmented marble – a moment that highlights the subtle tension between perfect and imperfect surfaces throughout the design.

Moments of branding are treated like light installations – the logo hangs like an artwork, distorted beneath layers of translucent curtains. Black steel arches emerge from the ceiling, each fitted with custom strip lighting. Their snaking, curved forms create a simple, yet beautiful centrepiece in the space. Studio AUTORI’s design for Sofi cosmetic’s Belgrade store blends unexpected materials together, creating a serene and undeniably welcoming space. The pairing of natural, imperfect materials with polished, clean geometries mirrors the calming atmosphere of a spa.
