Telecom Headquarters - KPF

The headquarters for one of Argentina’s two major phone companies, this 14-story building offers a striking waterfront presence in the Puerto Madero area of Buenos Aires.
The building is composed of two interlocking volumes, the long sides oriented to the north and south and the narrow sides towards the east and west. This scheme provides uninterrupted views and emphasizes the verticality of the design. The two volumes differ a few floors in height, with the higher volume to the north, addressing the city. Two gentle curves grace this taller volume, reducing the impact of the building’s height on the urban fabric.
The contrast in façades between the north and south volumes further reduces the scale of the building. The north volume, covered in blue glass, has a vertical expression, whereas the south volume, dressed in silver glass, has a more horizontal articulation, acting as a mirror to the immediate context of the brick warehouses and the docks. The main lobby, a double-height space, provides a gracious transition between the exterior and the interior space. The lobby materials—concrete, stone, wood, and glass—create a harmonious contrast with the exterior, integrating the building with the character of the area of Puerto Madero.
