Located in Toronto’s historic Distillery District, renown for its preserved heritage buildings, artisan shops, and galleries, El Catrin is a bold homage to Mexican cantinas. Appointed with vibrant details and playful furnishings, the destination venue is a visual mosaic of authentic Mexican motifs with interiors inspired by the Mexican traditions of La Loteria Mexicana, Papel Picado paper art, and urban street art. Resulting in a warm and inviting setting, Studio Munge’s design of El Catrin features authentic Mexican tile floors, custom designed metal screens, laser-cut lampshades and metal detailing, and a most notable electrifying 2-storey hand-painted bas-relief mural by artist Óscar Flores of Mexico City.
