Kew The Axes MLP Residence Emerging on a steep site in Kew, ‘The Axes’ presents as a contemporary icon amongst the traditional dwellings associated with the area as the street slopes down towards the nearby Yarra River. As its title suggests, the house is arranged as a sequence of strong, geometric forms surrounding a central outdoor living area. Upon entering, spaces flow from a gallery and zinc-clad retreat through to an expansive living area and private sleeping zone at the rear. A centralised pool enhances the contemplative nature of the composition, with internal facades characterised by large expanses of glazing, creating a seamless connection between the internal and external.
