Toorak, Melbourne Mantle House MH Residence Located in leafy Toorak, MH Residence is a full interior renovation, modest extension and rear façade remodel of the existing early 1900’s home. Though the current footprint remains largely unchanged, internal partitions and bulkheads have been removed, creating seamless transitions between core spaces. Prominent French doors throughout the living and dining zones have been heightened, enhancing the connection to new outdoor courtyards and improving illumination throughout the house. A celebration of the home’s original rendered façade is explored in the extension through an array of different textured and smooth renders. Principally, the redesign aims to remain faithful to the home’s architectural roots, whilst creating a reinvigorated set of spaces more accommodating to busy modern life. Close
