Note have teamed up with Danish design brand Menu and 3 other pioneering design studios in Copenhagen and Stockholm, to head the design process of an on-going development project in Nepal. The 4 design studios – Norm Architects (DK), Note Design Studio (SE), Afteroom (SE) and A hint of Neon (DK) have in collaboration with craftspeople in Nepal created a new collection of exclusive, handmade designs for Menu. The first items will be available in stores from October 2015.

In November 2014, Note, Menu and the trio of Scandinavian design studios went to Nepal to oversee the production and experiment with new sleek designs made from ancient techniques. The result is a new contemporary design collection for Menu – The Nepal Projects.

The project is a collaboration with Denmark’s development cooperation Danida – an area of activity under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark. In Nepal, many girls and young women are being tricked into prostitution, sent to India and later excluded from their families. A way to prevent this issue is to give the girls an opportunity to support themselves and their families from an early age.

The handmade production makes it possible to produce high quality design without compromising the minimalistic, timeless expression that is the core of the new Menu brand.

The new collection includes exclusive cashmere throws and bedcovers (A Hint of Neon), Cashmere and fine Merino wool pillows (Note Design Studio), a minimalist teddy bear (Afteroom), a series of accessory boxes in paper and textile (Note Design Studio), hand printed scarfs (A Hint of Neon), a Japanese inspired knot bag in grey canvas (A Hint of Neon) and a canvas laundry bag.
