This clubhouse is mainly designed as a gateway to two prestigious golf courses developed in the Cancún Country Club, and also as an entry to the area’s most important real estate development.
The building’s central design principle was to respect the natural context as far as possible, and for the buildings to make minimum contact with the ground. Therefore we raised the volumes above the vegetation below in order to create a unique and straightforward project with truly ecological foundations.
We also sought to maximize views onto the golf courses, the green areas, lakes and the entire surroundings, at the same time as blending the project into its environment. To achieve this we used wooden textures that in the design of its layout will make volumes appear and disappear and blend into the jungle. And by applying these formal elements to the solid volumes and empty spaces, combined with a simple composition that incorporated the elements of water and fire, we created different sensations throughout the year.
This gateway contains restaurants, bars and galleries for use by golfers and other visitors, and given the required exclusivity, a number of very specific extra features were also included: a spa, a gym, events rooms, a tobacco shop, a golf equipment store, and a golf valet in order to cater to every user need in this complex.
We should mention that our design for this project was built by another firm. In its final execution many elements of the design’s original essence were altered, and this reduced our functional and aesthetic contributions to the end product. Nevertheless, we wish to share ARCHETONIC’s original version that we created with the same passion we show in all of our projects.
