Description by Deco Interiors: Working against a breathtaking, ocean for as-far-as-the-eye-can-see backdrop and within a non-linear floor plan, Decus Interiors created a sophisticated city-meets-beach residence a family of 4.

It’s difficult to be anything but a backseat driver to the spectacular water and valley views across Tamarama from almost all rooms in the house. Our challenge was to devise theatre and drama within the interiors that would not compete but rather support.

By employing a high-contrast, monochromatic base palette pockets of darkness are discovered throughout the home creating respite from the lightness outside and inspiring a natural balance.

Each of the personal sleeping and bathing spaces are completely individual and saw the involvement of all family members in assisting to select colours and finishes. Key pieces of art from the clients’ collection offered inspiration for the furniture, lighting and soft furnishings throughout the living spaces. This is a home that moves fluidly from smart-casual by day into cocktail party by evening.
