Flat located right at the heart of Asturias región, Avilés. It faces the stunning green área of Cabruñana park, the enterprise we undertook was part of a 70’s block of flats.
We departed from a 100 m2 flat with unmistakable functioning problems as most of the flat’s layout faced the internal patios. This depicted shadowy spaces hence brought about significant lack of light throughout the premises.
Full restoration to a brighter condition was the primary unquestionable decision so natural light was to spread all over. Day zone became an only space where a glass partition subtly delineated the boundaries creating a visual interaction on both sides.
Integrating furniture turned out to be protagonist as though it would form both common and storage spaces. A wooden bench laminated vertically stands out thanks to its singularity as driving force to unify living room and access hall.
In night zone the solution was to eliminate one of the bedrooms in the pursuit of improve utility. Besides, wet zones were redirected and so dividing bathrooms to be used indistinctly by inhabitants. On top of it, a laundry was finally added to the unit.
