Rui Pereira and Ryosuke Fukusada designers have collaborated to realize a collection of bathroom furniture named Tile Sashi, that is interesting as design and also in terms of the used materials. The two designers highlight the fact that the evolution of industrial materials processing techniques has resulted in the removal of the limits which prevented the use of certain natural materials for making furniture items. Practically, through the bathroom furniture, the designers prove that ceramics can successfully replace the classical materials commonly used in the realization of the bathroom furniture by simulating the aspect and texture. By cutting and processing the Cotto Italian tiles into thin strips, the two were able to use this material to configure and realize the bathroom furniture. Besides the ceramic material, they have used other natural materials such as cork wood and red clay. As it can be seen, the collection of furniture is approached with a minimalist design, directed on essential and functionality, specific to the Japanese culture. Rui Pereira and Ryosuke Fukusada, two young designers, one from Portugal and the other one from Japan, met in Milan, Italy, and the result of their collaboration has materialized into the Tile Sashi Collection, a creative project of an eloquent expression.
