„In my belief, wood retains the spirit of the living tree and I just try to honour it. Wood is an excellent medium. It’s strong, light and flexible. You can shape it, carve it, colour it.” This is the belief that underlies the option for wood of the artist Olga Oreshyna, from Russia. Being raised and having her studies completed in Russia, Olga Oreshyna was able to become an artist once she moved to Canada.
Extensively travelling to North America and Europe, Olga was impressed by the dramatic aspects of nature, by its simplicity and the elegance of its forms, therefore she has chosen to reflect the beauty of nature in her works. Olga was drawn to painting on wood and made a hobby out of it, each piece of hers being a symbiosis of form and aesthetics.
To Olga, her works are very personal and reflect the deepest feelings concerning the mysteries of life and the beauties of nature. Passionate of the wood expressiveness, her inspiration source comes from the discarded pieces of wood, to which the artist gives a second life. Being a nature lover, Olga believes that rather than cutting down trees for wood, working with wood that has been already used is more convenient. Therefore the artist sends a message about how we can recycle and reuse wood in a creative way. Every piece of wood is a hidden treasure waiting to be discovered. Contemporary art can bring warmth, comfort and at the same time elegance to any living space. Truly lovely!
