The hotel havebeen built around Fu’s memories and silhouettes of his home city, and reflectthe complex dichotomy of its East-meets-West history. “It’s very challengingbecause many designers tend toward a more eclectic representation of HongKong,” he says. “I wanted to take a slightly different stance by celebratingthe city from a softer, more conceptual perspective.” Cue muted colours andtraditional lacquer work juxtaposed against dusty grey timber panellinginspired by the cityscape outside.

The luxe,residential-style interiors of the St. Regis Hong Kong will feature artisanaldetails inspired by the rich culture of the city. Wood floors and other accentswill reflect an Asian design sensibility, while guestroom details include deepsoaking bathtubs and expansive windows. Four new F&B venues will also beintroduced next month, including the French concept L’Envol fromMichelin-starred chef Olivier Elzer. In addition to the Cantonese restaurantRùn and the all-day eatery the Drawing Room, the St. Regis Hong Kong will alsobe home to the brand’s signature St. Regis Bar.
