Text description provided by the architects. Building 16 is located in the central region of the Campus next to buildings 05, 06, 15 and 20, and is intended to be used by the Central Library of PUCRS; it will have a total area of 20,004.00 m2. The work includes the reformation of the existing library measuring 8,831.30 m2 and expansion in the center of the building with 11,172.70m2, distributed in a 14-story tower.

The ground floor contains the cultural and coexistence space (university memorial, exhibition area, study room and cafe), FIJO’s service, DELL’s laboratory, the technical processing of the library, volumes custody, control and historic collection.

The dynamic collection will be concentrated on the second floor with respective reading areas and study rooms.
