Second Floor Plan
The fundamental premises in the creation of the project are twofold: firstly, the maximum rationalization of the functional plan defined by the local government and secondly the study of the optimal positioning and lighting, based on the geographical and climate conditions of a rocky area such as the Bavia region

The first premise is resolved concentrating on the lower floor most of the needs included in the functional program as well as the areas with heaviest inflow of people. So, in this way the building is solving all of its accessibility needs.

The second premise is based on the search of natural light in all of the dependencies of the building. Paying careful attention to the position of holes in the different parts of the complex in respect to the 4 cardinal directions (north, south, east, west), with the end in mind of ensuring the maximum energetic performance and thermal comfort.

To adequately resolve these 2 premises, the building has been plotted around a central patio. As it represents the ideal solution to concentrate in the lower floor all the required medical needs (in this way not requiring to part in 2 different floors the doctor offices). And also without comprising too much the space available avoiding an excessive patient population and not enough natural lighting in the medical rooms

The building is designed, volume wise, as a white concrete foundation topped by a racked roof. This is the best option given the climate conditions of the area with heavy snow falls in the better part of the Winter. As Always looking to find the right balance between the construction design and the integration with the landscape. The materials chosen are concrete and zinc to ensure the durability, lowest maintenance cost, most efficient construction with possibility of a later recycling. The material provides a well defined, distinctive personality to the building without imposing a visual distortion to the surrounding villages. The building itself revolves into its interior, the patio, without losing any opportunity to show and highlight the beautiful, natural landscape of the Bavia region.
2 different accesses are possible into the health center to allow for a proper functioning of the building. Providing both independence to the Emergency Areas from the regular visits area, where the Doctors Office are located but also ensuring communication between the two.
