Text description provided by the architects. The client expressed his intention since the beginning create a new concept of a first hemodialysis center with exclusive valences to its patients and at same time the Nordial Center shouldn't never look or feel like a hospital.  So, what we were  not supposed to do? “Elevators and indoors corridors, flanked by countless  doors leading  to rooms or examination rooms, a waiting lounge at the end of the hall or next to the elevator.

The same pattern repeated on as many floors as permited by zoning regulations  an economic solution because it is repetitive to the extreme, and requires no modification of staff behavior.

A hemodialysis center is a place where people live in almost of cases three hours per day .

It is place were they learn to cope with their change lives. During this hours they work with a multidisciplinary team with therapists and doctors some of them live and spend their free time there and also meet with family and friends. They have a daily routine as we do but with one significant difference: everything happens in one place.

As these patients have so many restrictions once they have to stay at the Nordial Center for a long time, we have set ourselves the task of designing a multifunctional diversified building, all most like a small village with streets, plazas, gardens, public facilities . We have tried to create surrounding that allow the patients as much autonomy as possible.

The construction is strongly determined by its geometry. This is not a purely mimetic relationship but a transformation of the landscape but always with an attitude that develops within its logic. After all, landscape gives rises to mantain the spirit of freedom and hope.
