The architecture museum has geometrical doorways cut into the centers of walls so that visitors can see the work displayed in the room adjacent to the one that they are in. The design for the photography museum calls for doorways cut in the corners of the galleries, ensuring adequate wall space to hang images. The outer walls of this museum are walled in glass to provide natural light. The architecture museum, by contrast, continues its geometrical perforation on the exterior walls to create windows. Color-coding is also important to the design: the architecture museum is built of red concrete, signifying the earthy basis of the construction process, whereas the photography gallery is walled in blue to represent the immateriality of that art form.

All gallery spaces within the two museums will be lit via skylight, with direct sunlight being softened by an adjustable brise-soleil on the roof. Both gallery spaces will also be punctuated by open air patios and leisure areas. The buildings are also bounded by an interior walkway that buffers the interior from the boulevard and acts as an extension of the programmatically neutral foyer.
The buildings will make extensive use of sustainable energy practices, including rainwater collection, photovoltaic panels on the roof, and geothermal heat.
