Text description provided by the architects. The project SESCSP Leisure Center - Social Service of Commerce of the State of São Paulo in the city of Jundiaí - was developed with the following objectives:

- Spatially translate a program of activities of SESC for citizens in general and in particular for workers in trade and services, with leisure activities, integrating the different manifestations of culture: sports, arts, reading and health, without hierarchies or barriers. An innovative, thoughtful, multifaceted and democratic program.

- Enter the new building in the city, in an area with special features: long and narrow, near the Jundiaí river and Botanical Garden and among the highlights of the city, the Municipal Palace, the traditional city center and the Serra do Japi - conservation area of the rainforest.

- Rescue features of modern Brazilian architecture: the articulation of opposites, lightness, transparency of spaces without secrets, enjoyment and the integration of internal and external spaces undoing the notion of built "boxes" and also incorporating elements of Brazilian traditional architecture, with its balconies, tiled floors and ceilings of wooden slats.

The building consists of two volumes: a long, curved, horizontal and smooth one that surrounds part of the other volume, a vertical cylinder. At the intersection of these two volumes there is a large central void that creates the meeting space, two multiple visible events from different points of the building and overlooking the construction environments.

- Parking and services underground, with openings and gardens that provide natural lighting and ventilation;

- Ground floor with large entrance hall, theater and service areas, and locker room, medical industry, technical environments and access to outdoor sports areas. In front of the large living room in the vertical block is the library, information technology workshop, play room, physical activity areas, and dental clinic.

- The upper level is integrated to the ground floor through the open hall with exhibition spaces, living room, dining area, multipurpose gym (sports and shows), pools and administrative area.

- The roof of the horizontal block is designed as a terrace with gardens, as well as a living, leisure, exhibition, gym and play area with images of the botanical garden, the city and Serra do Japi.

- The gym cylinder cover with 44 meters in diameter is composed of metal plates with acoustic and thermal insulation made of metal structure. The tiles route rainwater forward to a circular box 1.10 meters wide which is also the cover of the maintenance cabinet. In the tiles we designed a damping system that complements the thermal insulation made of concrete slabs covered with ceramic fragments that make up the mosaic in blue tones as a "moon" above the treetops of the botanical garden.

- The curved circulations of the horizontal block and the rings of the gym offer new views along the way.

- Frames made of glass walls structured by steel and silicone seals created the desired transparency allowing the integration of interior and exterior, as well as ensuring greater natural lighting to reduce energy use.

- To ensure cross ventilation with permanent natural air exchange without the need for energy equipment and expenses we projected openings on the ground floor and first floor causing air renewal for a chimney effect with a hot air outlet upwards.
