The Bishop Edward King Chapel by Niall McLaughlin Architects is among the six buildings nominated for the 2013 RIBA Stirling Prize

The Newhall Be housing development in Essex was designed by Alison Brooks Architects

A combination of balconies and courtyards make for comfortable and bright spaces inside and between properties

The Newhall housing development's sculptural volumes have a dark skin, inspired by the black weatherboard barns of Essex

Shefield's iconic Park Hill (Phase 1) redesign by Hawkins\Brown with Studio Egret West is also among the nominees

The redesign brought the Park Hill flats, originally opened in 1961, into the 21st century

The building's original concrete frame was restored and parts of the facade were clad in coloured anodised aluminium panels
