We've long been fans of illustrator Jean-Philippe Delhomme and his witty blog, The Unknown Hipster, known for its satirical sketches of the fashionable and famous. More recently, his illustrations from the opening night of Italian artist Paola Pivi's exhibition at Galerie Perrotin in New York caught our eye. Delhomme, pictured here among Pivi's technicolour polar bears, takes us on a memorable tour of the evening...

'Cutting through the crowd, I tripped on a bear’s rear paw,' says Delhomme of this self-portrait. 'In case I had been tempted to cuddle Paola’s sculptures, I was abruptly reminded that true art stands in discomfort when it doesn’t simply hurt.'

'Knight Landesman’s orange suit was challenging the art', says Delhomme
